Marlie Decopain, Visual Artist

Marlie Décopain is a NYC based visual artist. She started exploring and developing her artistic voice from a very young age and by her early teenage years, knew that her career path would be in the realm of creativity. After graduating from the School of Visual Arts where she honed her skills as an animator, she began her career as a motion graphics artist. She later transitioned into the design side of the field, working on projects for national and global brands such as Time Warner Cable, Microsoft, Dove, HBO, Nike just to name a few. Her professional and personal work ranges from illustration, storyboarding, textile design, graphic design, drawing and painting and a bit of craftwork. Her illustrations have been exhibited at art galleries around NYC and are for sale online as limited edition prints. She continues to work as a motion graphics artist while also working on other projects such as designing a company’s brand identity and developing illustrations for a summer collection of products. Her creative pursuits led her to start a line of home accessories, Popiphi, for which she is currently creating new designs and working on launching a new collection of throw pillow covers. When she’s not dreaming up new ideas, designing and illustrating she is pouring herself into interior design publications and trying out new fitness and dance classes.

TATIP Work

"During my training with TATIP I created and presented a mock lesson plan and teaching path with creative writer/ TATIP teaching artist trainee Megan Skelly. I’m currently doing a residency at PS 316 with Katie Issel Pitre and Max Albee as my teaching artist mentors. During my time in the classroom, I shadow and assist them as well as work with small groups of students ensuring that they understand the activity goals, stay on track and complete the task at hand while answering questions they might have. I recently led the 2nd grade class into a lesson planned by myself and co-facilated with Max Albee."
